Dutch Masters-Esque
Westerly, Rhode Island
Inspired by 17th-century Dutch paintings, this fall wedding unfolded as a study in color, texture, and abundance. Each scene was composed with a painterly eye, balancing seasonal richness with modern, unexpected details.
The ceremony featured a custom lucite chuppah that gave the florals a levitating effect against the landscape. Smilax vines, cascading amaranthus, and local grasses formed a soft architectural frame, layered with fall-hued blooms including vibrant mums and lilies. The contrast between fiery color and deep green surroundings set the tone for the day.
The concept carried into the reception through edible arrangements styled in vintage silver compotes. Grapes, pears, and artichokes referenced classic Dutch still lifes while adding texture and warmth to the tablescape. Overhead, a moss installation with overgrown candelabras draped in vines and grasses created an immersive, atmospheric setting.
Art history, seasonality, and material layered together, transforming the celebration into a living still life that felt abundant, expressive, and quietly transportive.
